Project Summary: A captive cable solution to solve a customer issue with our FIVE-O Fingerprint scanner.
Problem
We recieved a customer request for a cable solution that will hold a usb-c cable in place when in use. Below is the solution they came up with and I was then challenged to create a better solution without changing any tooling and making it around the standardized cable that came with the scanner
Inspiration
Final Design
Using the mounting inserts on the bottom of the device, I was able to create a base plate for the threaded inserts that would hold the cable in place.
I wanted to keep this design very minimal and easy so the solution created only added 4mm to the z-height and 4mm to the length of the product.
Design is broken down to 2 main pieces and uses the same screws for all 6 points for ease of use.
Model is 3D printed in PA6-GF for extra durability to product
